Liberating The Internet

In this short essay, I am going to talk about Wael Gohnim and what he thinks are many critical things on social media and how we can fix them.

In the Internet, we mostly have 5 main problems. The first one is that many social media users don´t really know how to deal with rumors, whether it is relating to them or not. The second problem is actually a quote said by Wael himself. He stated, "Second, we create our own echo chambers. We tend to only communicate with people that we agree with, and thanks to social media, we can mute, un-follow  and block everybody else.¨ The third problem is that many online chats become hectic and become cyber-mobs. The fourth problem has to do with people making difficult choices when it comes to social media. The fifth and last problem is social media have spread negative rumors, political hate, and other things that affect human behavior.

Wael talked about many things, including ways we can fix it. I have come up with 3 solutions that can help us reach a more positive connection to the cyber-world. One solution is we can create an alternative media that focuses more on positive interaction, not negative arguments. My second solution is that we can redesign the media ecosystem to let it fit our needs. My last solution is we can reward people that do good deeds, like speaking up for people when no one is around to help.

In conclusion, there are some negative incomes to the Internet, but there are things we can do to fix them.

My Personality

I agree on some of my strengths and weaknesses, but I also disagree on some of them as well. I am actually very observant and curious with many subjects and assignments. I am somewhat popular in this school. I also agree that I am really energetic and excellent at communicating. But I don´t agree that I know how to relax. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don´t. On to weaknesses. I kinda do have practical skills. I usually overthink my problems and find it difficult to relax in some points of time. But I don´t get stressed out easily. I also do not get highly emotional when it comes to working or doing a task.

Now to friendships. I mostly agree on my friendships. I am really open to my friends and they are really open to me. I can understand them better than many others. I usually get into my friends´ lives, either personally or academically. I can go a long way just to understand my friends.

Finally we are at career paths. I honestly agree with these results. I don´t lack talent or anything, but most of the jobs out there are really cool and amazing. Whenever I get a new task, I would sometimes embrace the challenges and face them head on. I also agree with the fact that if I am able to use my interactive skills, I would achieve success.

Dear Moi,

Hello. Welcome to The Past. This is you talking, but in the past. Its been 10 years since we talk, and I have some things I need you to accomplish. I need you to go to USC or Brown University. While you are there studying, you should get a part-time job at Panda Express. After I graduate from either one, you will get a job as a Metro Red Line Bus Driver. If that fails, I would be a beta tester. I would test games for great cash. In my spare time, I would be an Airsofter. I would hang with my bros ( Eduardo G, Armando G, and Theo K ). We would go to the nearest field and play all day, or all the time we have. I would live in a 2 story house, thank you very much.

Did I Reach My Goals I Created on January?

Ever since I created my goals back in January, I haven´t had much time to see what I have accomplished.

I have surpassed most of my goals, both academics and personals. I was able to achieve a WPM of over 30. I used my main source of help, Typing.com. I haven been able to master coding. We will be learning about it this week. I have been able to produce some interesting blog posts. Using skills I learned in ELA and Tech, I was able to come up with some descriptive answers.

As for my personal goals, I have also completed most of them. I have started go through the appropriate door for my Tech class. Since my first class is Tech, and the door is closer to the entrance, I can go through the door I am supposed to be going to. I am becoming not a professional Airsofter, but a good Airsofter. Just last Sunday, Eduardo G, Armando G, Theo K, and I went to TacCity Airsoft to play a few games. We worked as a unit and eliminated hostiles that were interfering with our missions. I haven´t gotten a hoverboard yet because they tend to explode while they charge, so I don´t want my house to be on fire.

Overall, I think I am good on reaching my goals.

Here is one of Thomas Edison's famous quotes: Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. 

I believe this quote is significant in his line of work because it shows that he is quoting people. When I mean he is quoting people, I am talking about how he is stating that people give up to early, when they are just a few centimeters away from success. He is saying that people should never give up, and they should keep trying, no matter how many times you fail.

Some of the most famous searches in 2015 I have seen were, "How can we help the refugees?", " Gay Marrige Approval", and "Just Do It".

I believe a trend is something that keeps popping up in peoples lives that makes other people want to do the same thing. Its like motivation.

I saw that many people searched up events of worrying or excitement, like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the Pray For Paris event.

I believe they do influence me because they provide interesting catchphrases. Their products and advertising campaigns are eye-catching. They support a source of inspiration, a source of motivation.
